Wild Rose D-Tox

It's spring and it's time for a renewed sense of motivation and energy to prepare for summer time rays and fun. Internal cleansing using the Wild Rose D-Tox system is a popular method used. Does it work?

Wild Rose D-Tox

As the weather warms up and we prepare our bodies for summer time fun, a common practice by many is to cleanse and detox the body. During the winter months, we eat dense meals, drink to our heart's desire, work more and sleep less. Pollutants from the environment - found in the air, water and foods that we eat - tend to accumulate within the body. Stress, rushed lifestyles and lack of exercise lead to mood swings, poor concentration, depression, fatigue and impaired memory. These toxins accumulate within the body over time and lead to a state of congestion that can eventually result in disease, cancers and other problems within the body and the mind.

By cleansing, our bodies can regain balance. I've been wanting to do a cleanse for a number of years but haven't had the guts to because of all the radical changes that I would have to make to my diet and my lifestyle. Fasting, 21 day cleanses, expensive diet regimes all turned me off. I need my coffee, I need my protein, I need my fruits!!! It wasn't until a co-worker of mine told me he was on the Wild Rose D-Tox Program that I decided to take a second look at cleansing once again. Watching him go through his cleanse, he reported feeling hungry and nauseated for the first few days. But as he neared the end of the program, he looked great. He shed a few pounds, stated he felt more energy and was so motivated to get back to the gym.

Fed up of of feeling sluggish, bitchy, and depressed, I took the plunge, walked into the nutrition store and picked up the Wild Rose Herbal Formulas. Apparently, this D-Tox program is one of the most effective and top selling cleansing programs available. Designed to help the body eliminate toxic material from the deeper tissue layers of the colon, lymphatic system, kidneys and liver, this 12 day program helps the metabolic processes function more efficiently. And the best thing is, the diet program suggested is not that different than competition diets I have endured in the past. So here I am, morning of Day 2 of the program and so far, no effects yet... I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, who else has done a cleanse and what were your experiences?

Does Detox Really Work?

Since I started the Wildrose D-tox program, I received a number of e-mails from friends telling me that it doesn't work. Articles such as the one found on WebMD claim that detoxing is a waste of time, if not, dangerous for you. Metro explains that there is little scientific evidence to prove its worth. It's easy to get caught up with the idea that we accumulate harmful substances all year round. Thinking about how much we drank at the last social outing; how much junk food we consumed in the last month; and the amount of time we sat (or lay) on the couch catching up on our favorite television shows during the week all lead to feelings of guilt, almost shame because we know that we should be doing other things to improve our lifestyle, our fitness, ... our health.

So what happens? We want a quick fix. An easy way out. A reason to no longer feel guilty for all the "bad" things we've been doing to our body. Cleansing, detoxing, purging at first, appears to be the logical answer. I agree with the claims that many of the programs don't work. The Master Cleanse (aka the Lemonade Diet) involves eating no solid food and drinking lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for at least 10 days. I'm nauseated just thinking about it, never mind doing it!! CleanseSMART is another popular detoxing program which involves 30 days of taking pills 2x/day... to start. Then there's an Advanced program to do right after... as soon as I read that, I'm turned off. Too much of a commitment and too much torture to my mind and body. Will I really feel better after? All of the programs described in the articles that talk about detoxing are of the extreme kind. Who wouldn't argue that detoxing is worthless? Dangerous?

The Wildrose D-Tox is similar to the above programs in that it involves taking supplements 2x/day for 12 days. However, it also stresses the need to eat well and to choose foods that aid in cleansing the body. The emphasis on diet is what most impressed me about this program. Brown rice, fish, lots of vegetables, and local fruits are strongly encouraged. There are no huge sacrifices except, for me, my morning soy mocha and dark chocolate in the evening time. Detoxing, cleansing is not about "cleaning yourself out" and then returning back to the same old bad habits again (for example, Beyonce's Master Cleanse helped her lose 10lbs for Dreamgirls but she gained it right back) ... Detoxing is about finding a new way to look at how you take care of yourself. There are a lot of detox programs available and it's still up to you to do your research and see which one will work best for you.

But remember, even when the program is done, use it as a way to re-examine what your lifestyle was before the program. Eating a healthy and clean diet, regular exercise at your target heart rate, avoiding alcohol and not smoking on a daily basis all help the body to function properly. Detoxing is just one way, one strategy that can be used as an excuse to kick-start a new healthy eating regime. So if you think of detoxing/cleansing from this perspective, and continue with the healthy routine even after taking all those pills, then yes, I believe it really does work. Because the outcome is a renewed you, a healthier you....

Hi have done the Wild Rose Detox program twice now and I love it. I ordered the cook book which was really helpful. When I did it for the second time, I was sick on day two - nausious and I vomitted. I was ready to give up, but then the next day I felt fine and decided to continue. I realized that I was just going through a sugar withdrawal. After that... smooth sailing! I felt great ... looked great and even lost a few pounds. A word of advice ... I strongly recommend buying the cook book. Before you start the Detox, go out and buy all the ingredients that you will need ... when the cravings come on, you must be prepared with the right food!!

I have just purchased my 3rd WiLD Rose Kit and will keep you posted on this new one. The previous ones gave me a really bad headache due to the withdrawl of caffine, very achy legs due to the magnesium leaving the body, and made be a bit sluggish on the first week. By the second week it was all good and I felt great by the end. When your body is aching and your skin looks blemishy then that confirms that you are ridding your body of all the toxins and sugars.... I say go for it..what have you got to lose except a couple winter pounds!

just finishing the wild rose cleanse :) it's been about 10 years since my last time through the cleanse and i'm remembering all the great feelings that i had the first time around ! i would indeed suggest to start slow with the pills for the first day or two if you've never done this before, my day 2-3 was filled with headaches and nausea feeling (very rare for me) which happily retreated and stabilized by the end of day 4. i dropped about 10 lbs over the full course of the cleanse and have been eating well, happy to get used to the good food and clean feelings, and looking forward to bringing some of the other foods in after the cleanse is done !!

I just started the detox today and I have a migrane headache and I am craving my late's and some of the fruits I really love. So we will see if I make it.

I am on day 3 of the Wildrose detox and nothing is happening. How long does it take?

Hello Tanya and dirtgirl

It's been a while since I've followed up with my hubpages, but good for you both for trying the detox.

How did you two do?

What I have found are those that have the worse first few days are more "toxic" than those who are not. My girlfriend had headaches and nausea for the first 4 days after 2 years off the d-tox and living in Spain for 1 year drinking and smoking.... cravings are natural, I believe it's our mind playing tricks on us because we know we can't have it...

does doing the wild rose cleanse effect your birth control in any way?

I have completed one Herbal D-Tox and lost 7# then continued with the menu plan, so far I lost 11.8# and am in my 11th week. I have added some dairy and other food but don't feel as good as I did while I was on the menu plan. It took me about 3 days before it started working for me and the headaches lasted a whole week! I would like to do another one very soon, but I don't know how long I should wait between cleanses, does anyone know?

caity 2 years ago

this is my sixth time doing the cleanse in 3 years. i love it absolutely. I always feel a little off the first few days then by day seven toward the twelth I have this amazing energry as well as I feel really light as in not bloated or any gastric discomfort. I think the diet is the key and after the 12 days I am going to follow tosca Rono's Eat Clean Diet because it's basically the D-Tox but for life!

Bev 2 years ago

Been on the d-tox diet now for 4 days, and still just regular bowel movements. I am following correctly, except if I forget about sugar (mint after dinner etc.) and spit it out. Is this normal?

Maggie 2 years ago

The first time I did the d-tox was about 15 yrs ago. I had just finished having pneomia before I started. The first week on the program, I could not believe the crap that came out of me! My lungs cleared and I have not had pneomia since, nor any yeast infections. I am getting ready to do my third d-tox. I find it always stops my sugar cravings. I have tried other d-tox programs, but I have never found a better program than the Wild Rose program.

Im four days into the detox, and I feel no difference, which I find odd, since the diet is completely different then my normal bad eating habits. Any thought as to why?

Deanna 24 months ago

I was wondering if anyone could scan and email me the food that is suggested to eat while doing this cleanse? I did it about 5 years ago and found it to be amazing! I am ready to delve in again but have misplaced the food chart. If you could either send it to me or direct me where to find it I would be most appreciative:)

Thanks in advance,

Deanna:)

3rd time on the cleanse and it's awesome. You really don't have to sacrifice much at all as you can eat as much as you like. Replace coffee with tea, bread with rice and your welcome to eat vegetables and almost all fruits. The only thing that would keep me from living on the diet all the time is alcohol and dairy. Easy to give up for 12 days though. I've lost weight and felt considerably better every time of done it. I haven't experienced any sort of withdraws, headaches or fatigue.

Just finished day 12 of my first wild rose cleanse!! I did stick to the diet pretty religiously which is a huge factor in success of the cleanse. I trimmed down 9 pounds and can finally see some abs coming through for the first time in years!! First few days were tough because of food cravings and headaches. About day 5 i notices my energy was rising and i feel lean and mean! I was worried once the cleanse was done i would binge on the foods i once loved such as fast food and sugar but I have actually become addicted to apples and snap peas. Mabe I have broke my poor eating habits for good??

Starting the d-tox cleanse tomorrow! Im excited to see what happens with my results! I also had a very bad last couple cheat days so im hoping that the detox can help clean out my system of that waste and also get me back on track with my diet!

Meg 22 months ago

I am starting with just the diet first. Day 2 of the diet and I have a wicked, wicked headache. Plan on starting the actual detox in 4 days. Is a headache without the pills normal?

amy 22 months ago

Hi all, i have been following the detox diet for the past month and feel great, i have found the less sugar you eat, the less you crave it. and the more salads i am making and healthier foods, the more i crave healthier foods more than junk foods. I found sugar and carbs like a drug before, i could never just have one busicuit, i had to eat the whole packet. i could see my life in 5 years time and decided it was time to take control! There is no excuses for being overweight...NONE...we all have struggles in our lives and obesity in our genetics blah blah... but in the end, overeating is simply greed and lazyness, simple. This detox sounds great because you still eat plenty of healthy foods, a balanced diet. i am now starting the detox programme, taking the herbs but im not sure how to take the oil, can anyone help? thanks

angie 18 months ago

Just a word or wornning....do not drink alcohol on this cleanse!!!! There is no such thing as "cheat days" while taking the herbs. Keep in mind also that this cleanse is not recommended for people with high blood preassure.

Where can i buy the detox?

Rebecca  12 months ago

I have cheated and ate organic pasta with free run chicken organic also. With tomato sauce and have had some 5 cent candies, do I need to end it all and start again? Is it okay that I take these pill with some bad food

em 12 months ago

What's the point of detoxing if you're just gonna cheat while on it?

If you can't commit to 12 days of a good diet don't bother with the detox.

I'm a carb girl, I eat multiple bowls of rice for lunch and dinner, I love bread. I gave up white rice and swapped it with brown rice and quinoa and more fish and chicken.

I just finished day 1 and I feel great slight headache and don't feel hungry. Food intake for the day consisted of spinach omelet for breakfast, salad for lunch, apple and cashews for snack, and for dinner half cup rice, steak and spring mix salad with hard boiled egg and homemade dressing.

After every meal I did not feel bloated like I normally do cause the food I'm eating is lighter and healthier and not greasy.

Dizzy, nauseous, stomach feels like a bag of poison. Having dreams where I break into Safeway in the middle of the night and raid the bakery isle. Suffering from unpredictable attacks of diarrhea. This is day 5. There is no turning back.

lucy25 11 months ago

This is my second go of the Wild Rose cleanse and I'm on day 5. As usual my stomach is pretty irritable, but other than that my energy has increased and my skin is glowing! Although, the first few days were horrible, headaches, sore throat and stomach issues. If you have any stomach problems i would suggest just doing the diet and not the pills. I also love to exercise and I have had to lay off a bit as well due to dizziness. I think this cleanse varies for everyone, get off of it if the effects are too much to handle! Other than that happy cleansing people!

violacran 11 months ago

I am on day 5. last night was horrible cramps and sweating all over my body. could not leave the toilet. reduced the pills to half. my husband is doing fine with it. what also could be a reason that I started it right away after arriving out of canada in europe. so a jetlag is also involved. feel not hungry at all. but tired, little nauseated and then last night awful because of cramps diarrhea but also sweat poured out of my body everywhere and was gussing down my face. crawled back into the bed.

LynnT 9 months ago

I finished the Wild Rose D-Tox two weeks ago. The only diet change I had was to cut out dairy, as I eat quite healthy anyway. I ended up gaining 6 pounds. I blame the pills.

Also, the pills interrupted my digestive system. I felt no nausea, but had very loose stool with floating oils in it for the last few days.

As I said before, it's been 2 weeks to the day, and I still haven't regulated my bowels. Still loose and sometimes oily.

I use a tsp of olive oil with lemon as salad dressing (always have) and still pass oil. What has this done to me?

I am planning on doing the Detox starting tomorrow.. A bit excited as this will be my 3rd time.. I have been indulging in too much eating and drinking and need to get cleaned up and start afresh.. and hey lose all those unwanted toxins . I bet its going to be hard but I am going to stick to healthy food choices.. Any one have any good recipes to help.

Canwegian 4 months ago

I'm wide awake between days 5/6 and have been enjoying the cleanse wholly- despite the irregular sleep patterns and killer stomach pains. Over the past two days, I've been roller coasting between feeling wide awake, energetic, & excited, to feeling exhausted and needing a bed immediately- I'm chalking this up to winter hibernation and my body finding regularity again.

The stomach pains, however, I'm not too sure on... I'm finding myself constipated and gassy and my belly is making some wild sounds. Prior to this d-tox, I hadn't eaten wheat for a year- except on special occasions- never drank milk, and have always sought out healthy alternatives- no chips, rarely sodas, no candy, etc- but, this is my first d-tox, and I'm gonna stick to the program, and see how feel over the next 6 days- I assume everything will regulate itself eventually, yes...?

Fingers crossed...

Im on day 6 and ive gained 1 lb a day and havent been going to the bathroom. My headache hsa persisted since day one. Ive followed the plan to the last detail. Is this normal. i plan to get off the detox plan tomorrow.

Riri 2 months ago

Hi everyone,

I am on day 6 and feeling great. I didn't do the detox specifically to lose weight but I can feel in my clothes and pants that I am losing pounds. I am already relatively thin but it's nice to know that the excess weight I gained during the holidays is slowly shedding off! I'm eating the foods instructed and enjoying every bit of it! I recommend this detox to everyone!

As for those of you who are gaining weight? I can only imagine that you are not drinking enough water. The water helps to flush out the waste!

Also, I don't believe it's water weight you are losing. These are solid pounds I believe considering that you are eating healthier - I know I've lost actual pounds and not water weight because I am drinking water as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong people!

Dana 4 weeks ago

I'm on the Wildrose detox now (my 8th time) and I love it!!! But I believe that everyone is different and you need to do your research first before you decide on one that suits you. Good Luck!

Keri 3 weeks ago

I swear by the Wild Rose Detox. This is my third time doing it and I always see great results. I have been eating horribly and drinking more than usual and have noticed a huge breakout in my skin, almost like a rash. It wasn't until I started the cleanse that my face started to clear up. My headaches are slowly starting to disappear and I have more energy. I also think it's partly due to the diet of fish, chicken, vegetables, nuts, seeds and fruits. I can even still have my almond milk :) It's a great way to get on a healthy track. I even lost 8 lbs which is awesome. I was definitely carrying a lot of water weight and junk in my body that is now gone :) I would never do a different kind of cleanse and this is the only one I recommend.
